ABOUT US
Leelium Balloons Limited has been supplying helium filled lighting balloons to the film, TV & entertainment industries in the U.K. (and around the world) for over fifteen years, providing a fast, efficient and safe method of achieving a soft overhead light source for film sets and locations.
We were the first company to move beyond the original spherical balloon-light by designing the tube-shaped balloon with an integrated internal reflector, and black skirts for controlling the spread of light. This was the first meaningful evolution in balloon-lighting as it meant that rather than just being able to offer a simple balloon with a light inside, Leelium could now offer the first truly functional ‘floating light’.
Leelium has continued to innovate by developing an ‘igniter-less’ system for our HMI and MSR balloons – a system with huge advantages for balloon lighting. By removing the necessity for heavy igniters inside the balloon and allowing us to run two bulbs on a single circuit we have dramatically reduced the payload of our balloons. This means we are able to get a more light out of a much smaller balloon. A smaller balloon means less helium, and less helium, of course, means lower costs. The other obvious advantage of a smaller, more efficient balloon, is that you are able to light spaces where headroom is limited.
Leelium balloon-lights are manufactured from a durable, U.V. resistant, rip-stop fabric, capable of withstanding the extreme conditions often encountered on a film set or location. Over the years we have rigged balloon-lights in just about every way conceivable (please have look through the gallery), and our technicians are amongst the most experienced in the industry.
