Safety Aspects, Risk Assessment and Method Statement

Leelium Balloons Limited has been supplying helium filled lighting balloons to the film, TV & entertainment industries in the U.K. and around the world, for over ten years. The Leelium ‘tube lite’ is a fast, efficient and safe method of achieving a soft overhead light source for film sets and locations. As vastly experienced film and TV professionals, and electronics engineers, we have always been aware of the unique technical and safety issues encountered in the film and T.V industry. To this end all our equipment adheres to the highest industry standards of safety and build-quality. Extensive equipment checks are carried out regularly with all maintenance being done in-house.

Leelium Balloons have done extensive temperature tests with luminairies in a helium filled ‘tube lite’. The emitted heat from the ‘tube lite’ is a constant 6° to 8° above the ambient temperature. This allows our range of balloons to be used in locations where emitted temperature is important.

ABOUT HELIUM:
Helium is one of the so-called noble gasses, and is the second most abundant element in the universe. It is inert, colourless, and odourless. Helium is used in lighter than air balloons and, while heavier than hydrogen, is far safer since helium does not burn. Breathing helium in high concentrations may cause asphyxiation – never deliberately inhale.
